How it all started...
In 1904, 8 years before NM became a state, thirteen people with a desire to lead people to faith in Jesus Christ were present for the organizational meeting to establish First Baptist Church in Artesia.
Three separate buildings were loaned out for the people of FBC to hold worship services and Reverend J.M. Wollan was elected the first Pastor of the church.
With over 100 years of ministry to people and the community, First Baptist Church still stands as a pillar of faith in the hearts and lives of those who have passed through the halls.

Expanding the vision...
Our current worship center was built in 1959, remodeled in 1993 and after 28 years of worship services in it, we are updating to function more effectively as we seek to advance the Kindgom of God through disciple-making..
Where we are headed...
Living out a life of discipleship is our hope for every believer. When people come and encounter Christ at First Artesia, we want to walk beside them and help them embrace the grace that He has given so that each believer can extend His love to all nations. Our Wednesday classes and one-on-one discipleship help us to succeed in this vision.
